COVID19 Health & Safety
Like last year, we will follow COVID19-related rules and procedures required by Public Health. As we all ride this fourth wave, we remain optimistic that many of last year’s COVID19 rules will be loosened. We will communicate the most up-to-date and accurate information to you  as soon as we receive official details from Public Health and the Ministry of Education.  As soon as we know more, you’ll know more. We will send out a “COVID19 rules @ HSB” email asap and ask that you review it as a family. Our goal is to keep everyone in our building as safe as possible, but it’s a team effort.

Communications from HSB
We communicate with our families in a number of ways.

For health-related, and other important or time-sensitive HSB information (example, COVID19 rules), we email families directly to the parent email address provided to the school. Let us know if your email changes and check your spam folder and make sure to “allow” emails from HSB to get directly to your inbox. We try not to send too many emails, so if you see an email from us – chances are it’s important!

We also communicate with our students using their nfsb accounts.  Please remind your child to check their inbox regularly!

Lunches
Students can have lunch in the HSB cafeteria, outside on campus, or off-campus during the lunch hour. Cafeteria service starts September 7, so make sure to have a lunch with you for the first few days. Students who do leave the school during the lunch hour are reminded to be good citizens when out and about. Keep in mind there are many elderly people in the area, and your polite and kind behaviour is very appreciated.

Back-to-School Info for Students

  • Walkers, please use the main entrance on McLeod between 8:50 and 9:00 am.
  • Taking the school bus? Be at your stop 15 minutes earlier than last year
  • Full uniform is required
  • Masks are required inside the school. Any additional info will be communicated to families when we know more from Public Health.

Daily Schedule
Students’ daily timetables will be available, fingers crossed, on the Parent Portal August 31 by the end of the day. We have emailed PDF’s to all our families in the mean time. ( You have to love technology ;). )
Be sure to print out a copy or snap a picture of your schedule on your phone.

In Grade 7 or new to HSB? We’ll have a printed copy of your schedule ready for you when you arrive.

Lockers
Lockers are back! Each student will be assigned a locker and a lock. Locks must be returned at the end of the year.

Valuables
Keep valuables at home. The school is not responsible for lost or stolen items.

School Supplies
Your teacher will let you know specific supplies needed for class but have basics ready to start the year like pencils, pens, erasers, liquid paper, ruler, highlighters, scissors, glue sticks, colour pencils, pencil sharpener, pencil case, face masks, a reusable water bottle, running shoes for Phys. Ed, facial tissues (optional). A quality backpack is a good idea.

Need/Want a Course Change?
Course change period will be from September 13-17. More information to follow.

There’s a lot of great stuff going on at HSB! Check this site daily for all sorts of news and information (as well as the answer to the ever popular “what day is it today?” question!)
