• All students must now wear a procedural mask; 2 masks per student per day will be provided.

October 13 – 16 the Community Outreach Officers along with their patrol colleagues will be visiting local high schools to sensitize students to respect social distancing and safety protocols. Please see their press release (in French only at the moment).
October 8, 2020: Address to students
Since we can’t hold assemblies in the auditorium, students were reminded over the P.A. of Sante Public and school security protocol:
Follow social distancing rules. Students must remain 2 meters apart from students in other classes and 2 meters away from all adults.
Grade 10 & 11 students must remain 1 meter apart from all students all the time, including in classes.
– Masks must always be worn in school and on school property -this includes the area surrounding the building and on the backfield.
The only times a student can remove their mask, are when eating or drinking. This should be brief and your mask should be put back on as soon as possible.
– In the cafeteria, you must sit at your assigned table and keep your mask on when you are not eating.
– Students are not allowed to mix between classes and are never permitted to enter a class that is not theirs.
– Eating of lunches is permitted in the cafeteria, outside, or in classrooms.
– Students are expected to be in proper uniform. Remember the only hoodie permitted is the HSB one. It is important to remember that these rules are in place to protect everyone’s safety.
Students who choose to break any of these rules will be given suspensions.

Updates to Public Health Guidelines
Message sent to families by email, re: confirmed case.
Following the new government guidelines released on Monday, and the news of a confirmed case here at HSB, I am sending you several attachments today regarding the new measures being put in place for schools in the Red Zone as of tomorrow. These include:
- Updated rules for wearing masks
- Letter to parents from the Minister of Education in English and French
- A delay in the grade 9 vaccination schedule
- A form that needs to be completed when your child returns to school after being away with any COVID-19 related symptoms.
Another safety precaution we are implementing is the introduction of wearable student ID tags. This colour-coded system of identifying students by grade and by group will help us ensure that students remain safely in their bubbles when they are outside of class. A label has been attached to the back of Student ID cards, and the cards have been placed in lanyards, to be worn by students while they are in the building. Kindly reinforce with your children the importance of wearing their ID tags throughout the school day.

As we all continue to navigate life during a pandemic … the “second wave” has arrived. The following is information covering situations that may arise, that we all
must be prepared for.
If a student tests positive
If a student tests positive for Covid19, their class bubble closes — students from the class are sent home, and the situation will be evaluated by Sante Publique who will identify the date of return.
Replacement personnel
It is also possible that we may have to close a class bubble due to a shortage of personnel. Like schools across the province, we are doing our best to maintain services, but we are having trouble finding replacement employees.
It is also possible that your child’s class may be supervised by an employee other than a teacher. In this case, students would have teacher-assigned work to complete.
School buses
As we know, if a student tests positive, the student’s class bubble closes. We have just been informed that all students who were sitting within a seven-bench “radius” surrounding the positive case will have to remain at home for 14 days.
We will provide you information as we receive it and will do our best to give you as much notice as possible – but as we learned since March – things happen quickly.

Friday, September 25, a New Frontiers Board Office employee tested positive for Covdi19. This individual had not been in the office all week. Sante Publique’s evaluation is that this situation poses a very low risk of infection within NFSB facilities.
Employees are being vigilant in respecting all health and safety precautions. There was a clear tracing of where this employee had been, and anyone who had any contact with this individual has been informed.
